3 Minutes - At the Cabin

Hi. It's Joe.

I am up at the cabin with Caitlin. It it one of those warm and windy days, good for tubing. Also a good day for catching small mouth bass, which I did.

We are going to have fish for lunch, if you didn't guess that.

We did a bunch of yard work and house cleaning for when my parents get here in a couple of days.

5 Minutes - A Great Opportunity to Post

Hi. It's Joe.

It's funny how something like a destroyed server can bring a 21st century business to a standstill. That is the case today, because all the servers at work have been out for most of the day.

It must be a bad situation. I have a meeting at 2, but if the stuff is still down after that, I am getting out of here.

10 Minutes - Carpool and the Power of Positive Thinking

Hi. It's Joe.

Do you believe in serendipity? What about the power of positive thinking?

I guess I do. It defies logic and reason...or does it?

It does seem to happen fairly regularly, more often than random chance would predict.

But I think the human penchant for creativity drives the phenomenon.

I have been wishing I could carpool to work for a few weeks now, but considering where I live, I thought it would be impossible to find someone who lived in my neck of the woods.

But I still wished for it and optimistically hoped for it, ignoring the "negative" thoughts about the unlikelihood of it.

Thus, I was pleasantly surprised, at a work social last Friday, to discover in conversation that one of my co-workers lives in nearby Lake Mills WI.

I queried him about the car pool option and his work schedule and mine are compatible.

So today we are going to give it a test run.

If it works out, we will both cut our commuting gasoline bills significantly. Not in half, because it looks like Mondays and probably Thursdays, we'll have to go it alone due to after work conflicts.

But I just thought it was interesting that a carpooling option manifested itself a couple of weeks after I started seriously wishing for it.

I don't think it is any kind of mystical thing, like "The Secret."

I think I just had a vision and slowly guided my "universe" into harmony with that vision through the creative process.

You create your own reality.

10 Minutes - A Time and a Place for Everything

Hi. It's Joe.

I am single again. It is not a bad thing, because everything happens for a reason and this was for all the right reasons, and amicable and mutual. I could tell you all the reasons, but let's just leave it at having Jesus as the 3rd wheel on every date wasn't working so well for me. Totally my issue, mind you...

I like my new singing class. It comes with a CD of exercises that I can do in the car during my longish commute to work, which makes the longishness seem less of a waste of time and keeps my mind off the a-hole tailgaters.

I have my 1 on 1 lesson tonight at the Madison Music Foundry, but I totally forgot to bring my guitar so I can work on the song I want to work on with my teacher. I guess we will have to do exercises again, unless there is something I can easily play on the piano, like maybe "Pied Piper's Tune."

I need to get something to eat before my lesson, so I think I am going to bug out of here now and do that. I am not sure what I will get though. A Barrique's breakfast wrap sounds mighty good, but I think they stop serving at 5 PM. I'll find something.

Thanks for reading!
